The achievements in the field of science and technology have no doubt revolutionised the progress of human beings. But modernisation has opened up new avenues of socio-cultural up heralds. Alterations in the moral, ethical and spiritual values, changes in the family pattern, uses of sophisticated destructive devices are some of such problems. In order to overcome these problems we need a deep sense of humanism – a sacred respect for human life.
Value-based education can render a “healing touch” to these problems. We have to train the younger generation to become good human beings, who are governed by theSupreme Law of morality and conscience. This law will help them avoid evils and love to do right thing or not to do the wrong.
Our students should acquire these qualities by nurturing Socio-Cultural contacts, trying to emulate role models and equipping with firm commitment to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Behind any successful personality there should be an influence of a teacher. School-life is the child's first introductions to life in a community and it is here that the first lessons of good citizenship must be learned. It is here that a child develops qualities like understanding, adjusting, sharing, caring and helping each other. To achieve these cherished ideals, a greater interaction between teachers, parents and students should be established.
